Dear
Member,
I
am writing this, the first OBA Newsletter of 2010, a little later in the Year
than I originally intended to, due to the combined effects of the January
weather disruptions, and long running flu type symptoms, that relieved me of
much of my normal energy. However, I am back on song now, and want to get all
the important dates for 2010, into your Diaries. The Key Meeting Dates for
Association Members during this Year are as follows: -
·
Annual
Dinner & AGM: which will be held at The Drummond Arms Hotel, Albury, on the
evening of Friday 14th, May. As before, we have
negotiated with the Hotel, to give those Members who wish to stay overnight
after the Dinner, a discounted rate for Accommodation. Full details will be sent
out in the next Newsletter in mid March.
·
Isle
of Wight Re-union Weekend: Please note that the confirmed date for this event
will be 10th -13th. September, at
Bembridge Coast Hotel, not 17th-21 St.
September,
as given as a provisional date in the last Newsletter of 2009. Your Committee
decided to alter the date of this "Camp", because Warner's who run the
Hotel would not give us a Group Discount because they had many early bookings
for that weekend, and would only take us at the full Brochure price, of £359
per person. However, for the earlier Weekend we can get the full Group Discount,
which gives a price per Person of £207, for the Weekend, which we think is more
appropriate. In addition, the entertainment for the Weekend we are now planning
to go on is a Neil Diamond, and Elton John tribute weekend, whereas the later
weekend, is a Southern Belle Weekend, where the entertainment is American Jazz..
·
Re-union
Bible Class: Will be held in Clapham on Sunday 31rd. October at 10 am.
I
hope you will note these dates in your current Diary, and I enclose with this
Newsletter, a booking form for the Isle of Wight Weekend. If you would like to
join us, please complete the farm, and return it to me (along with your Deposit,
made payable to "The 83rd London 4BA" of £25 per person) by Friday 26th.
February,
We
have recently heard from Cordon Whitefoot, who has eyesight problems that
prevent him driving very far from home these days, he has had laser treatment on
his eyes and is making progress. Malcolm Williams is also making steady progress
after his spell of 11 weeks in Hospital, in 2009, following his heart problems!
Kind Regards
Yours
sincerely,
Alfred R Lott
